Topics for the workshop sessions included:
• Creating an innovation roadhap for the waste/resource management sector
• What is best practice for innovation support
• The current provision of innovation facilities
• Gaps and needs in North West Europe

Delegates take part in an outdoor workshop at :metabalon

Delegates moved venue for the second day of the event to the site of the flagship waste transformation and resource recovery research site :metabolon in nearby Lindlar.

Established in 2010, following the closure of Leppe landfill in 2006, :metabolon is a redesigned landfill site focusing on renewables with different pilot and industrial plants. The lessons learnt from the realisation of the :metabolon project, are regarded as crucial for ReNEW.

A press conference was also held, with six local and regional newspapers and onlne platforms reporting on the event and its aims.
