Donegal County Council

Donegal County Council

Donegal County Council is the authority responsible for local government in County Donegal, Ireland. It is responsible for road services, environment, housing, motor tax, planning, community and culture. The Water, Environment and Emergency Services Unit (WEE) will act as main partner in conjunction with the EU Unit and Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) will be a sub-partner in this project. The different units in Donegal County Council will coordinate all aspects of project delivery, oversight and management control. The Council will be responsible for timely recoupment of funds and submission of claims.

The EU Unit has considerable experience of managing programmes of this nature and will work with the identified sub-partner Inishowen Development Partnership to effectively manage and administer the RENEW project.
DCC and IDP bring considerable experience in linking diverse stakeholders and are keen to work within the project partnership to optimise emerging processing and extraction processes to contribute to the transformation of the waste sector in North West Europe. The collaborative approach to sensitive environmental issues offers the optimum possibility of a successful ReNEW project for Donegal and in developing critical international linkages for best practice adoption within the county.
DCC will participate in RENEW A1, A4, A5, A6, A7, A13, A14, A15, A16. DCC’s participation in RENEW offers:
1. A close working relationship with all county councils in Ireland and with other government agencies responsible for resource management
2. A focus on strategy for future management of waste and resources in rural areas
3. Links to a strong rural innovation ecosystem
